2009: The Year in Review

A breakthrough year! Options, agents and more!...

This year began with a bang as Daven House optioned my screenplay THE BUNNY PLOT and then THE STRANGE EFFECT OF ASH became a winner in one of Screenplaycontests.com's 2009 competitions! I also joined AFTRA.

Then came the screenings of three films I shot last year. I'm basically bad guys in all of them: a kinky, abusive diplomat in FREUDIAN EYBROW, a jaded, smarmy lawyer in LOSING YOU, and a mysteriously nefarious priest in CONSTITUTION, USA. Ah, but it's good to be bad!

Back on the writing side, Cengage, Inc.'s book, "Viewpoints" came out with one of my editorial commentaries as part of the "Readings Worth Thinking and Writing About" section. I also finished my latest screenplay THE SISTERHOOD, a suspense/horror film I hope will give people something to scream about.

Back on the acting side of things, I landed a leading role in a pilot called THE IMMORAL DR. DICKER where I play an over-the-top, megalomaniacal Baron out to sabotage the not-so-good Doctor. Lots of green screen effects, wacky situations and anthropomorphic madness!

I also shot a couple of episodes of a partially animated web series called LARRY LABRAT. I play GloboControl's Lead Scientist who experiments creatively (and hilariously) on the hapless cartoon rodent.

Next came CAMP VIRGINOVICH, a feature film about a couple of high school virgin nerds going to a camp guaranteed to get them laid. (Think "Superbad" meets "American Pie") I play the dorky lead's even dorkier dad. Really funny stuff; can't wait to see it!

Winter brought the distribution screening of SAMURAI AVENGER: THE BLIND WOLF--a sushi western slasher--where I play a snarky jailer who pisses off the psycho villain. A small part, but I get a big laugh and the film is winning awards across the globe, so that's cool.

And then, just to make sure the year ended with a bang, THE SISTERHOOD became a semi-finalist in Slamdances' Horror Screenplay Contest...and the director of Affinity Artists Agency hooked me up with one of his reps and so now I'm represented by them!

Finally: everyone keeps asking when I'm going to do a stage play again. I promise when the right gig comes along, I'll be there!

In the meantime, hope all is well with all you who stumble upon these words.

~Gregory
