Gregory Blair 2024: The Year in Review |
Another year comes to an end. Some crushing losses, disappointments and struggles. But some positive things as well. As a year so often brings. Here is a list of the good things I'll want to remember. Because I think it's always best to remember the good things... January started off with THE MYSTERY OF EMMA THORN announcing more crew: composer Everett Young, sound designer Chris Carlone and sound mixer Paul Cornette. First poster mockup for THE MYSTERY OF EMMA THORN In February, L. Andrew Cooper's interview of me chatting about filmmaking, the Director’s Cut of DEADLY REVISIONS and a sneak peek into THE MYSTERY OF EMMA THORN! You can read that here. And the talented Alexys Paonessa signed on as makeup artist for THE MYSTERY OF EMMA THORN. New interview, thanks to L. Andrew Cooper! March brought the world premiere screening of the short thriller FAVORITE SON (which I co-wrote and co-star in with Larry Altmayer) at the Queer Here Cinema Film Festival. More crew signed on for THE MYSTERY OF EMMA THORN including Alexandria Perez as our UPM/AD and Matt Stuertz as our gaffer and 2nd camera operator. And a special prop designed by artist Daniel Vincent Bigelow! On the red carpet at the premiere screening of FAVORITE SON! In April the Director's Cut of DEADLY REVISIONS hit Tubi (thanks to Indie Rights Movies). You can watch that here. Also finished up last minute preproduction for THE MYSTERY OF EMMA THORN. DEADLY REVISIONS - The Director's Cut now streaming! May saw cameras roll on THE MYSTERY OF EMMA THORN. Finally working with iconic Lynn Lowry! And the entire rest of the cast and crew proved the quintessential dream team! Lynn Lowry on the set of THE MYSTERY OF EMMA THORN June meant flying to New York to play Dr. Hackman in Adam Steigert's OMBIS 2: Alien Awakening and then coming home to begin editing THE MYSTERY OF EMMA THORN. Thankfully, my Assistant Editor (Michael J. Epstein) set me up beautifully: organizing, labeling and preparing the footage to make my job as easy as possible. Still a beast of a job, though! Editing Screen Shot from THE MYSTERY OF EMMA THORN July meant finishing up the editing for THE MYSTERY OF EMMA THORN and going with Charles Chudabala to the premiere of Lynn Lowry's latest film A HALLOWEEN FEAST. Just about the only premiere of a film I wasn't in that I had time for so far. With Charles Chudabala and Lynn Lowry at the premiere of A HALLOWEEN FEAST August saw the completion of rough cut of THE MYSTERY OF EMMA THORN, with special VFX work being tackled by Michael J. Epstein. In September, THE MYSTERY OF EMMA THORN made its way to our composer Everett Young and our sound designer Chris Carlone. And #FAMILY MAN, where I play the lead antagonist, has its world premiere. You can watch the trailer here. As the despicable Eli Jackson in #FAMILY MAN October was all about reviewing progress on the sound design and score for THE MYSTERY OF EMMA THORN. Although a new sneak peek of me as Dr. Hackman in Adam Steigert's OMBIS 2: Alien Awakening cropped up. A new sneak peek of Dr. Hackman in Adam Steigert's OMBIS 2: Alien Awakening November meant more work on the sound design and score for THE MYSTERY OF EMMA THORN...but I did take time off to go to the world premiere of Jason Horton's new film A HARD PLACE, starring Rachel Amanda Bryant and THE MYSTERY OF EMMA THORN's Kevin Caliber and Lynn Lowry! With Rachel Amanda Bryant at the premiere of A HARD PLACE As things slow down for the December holiday season, I'll wrap this up--as always--sending warm wishes to all you who have stumbled upon this recap. Be kind to yourselves, to others and to animals. Do helpful, constructive things. Be patient. Be grateful. Spread love and warmth wherever you go. |
